Metamorphoseos, sive lusus Asini libri XI (et alia opera). Mit 2 Holzschnitt-Druckermarken. Venedig, Aldus Manutius & Andreas Socri, 1521. 1 w. Bl., 266 Bll. (recte 264), 28 nn. Bll. Kl.-8°. Spät. dekorativer Ledereinband mit Goldprägung und punziertem Goldschnitt mit Ornamentprägung, Steh- u. Innenkanten fein profiliert (etwas berieben u. bestoßen, Hinterdeckel lose, Vordergelenk restauriert).


Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Erste Aldus-Ausgabe. - Cataldi Palau 67. - Edit16 2231. - Renouard 91/8. - UCLA 202. - Wichtiges Hauptwerk des antiken Schriftstellers und Philosophen. Mit der griechischen Zusammenfassung der platonischen Philosophie des Alcinous. - Vorsatz mit gest. Exlibris "Spes Ultra" u. Besitzeintrag des Theologen Alexander Nairne (1862-1936), w. Blatt u. Titel mit Besitzervermerk (davon einer dat. 1740), Buchblock etwas angebrochen, Titel angeschmutzt, erste Blätter feuchtigkeitsrandig, tls. etw. stockfleckig, sonst insg. ordentlich.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – First Aldus Edition. With 2 woodcut printer's marks. Later gilt stamped decorative leather binding with punched gilt edges (slightly rubbed and bumped, back cover loose, front joint restored). - Important major work of the antique author and philosopher. With a Greek summary of the platonic philosophy. - Flyleaf with bookplate and ownership entry of Canon Alexander Nairne, white leaf and title with further ownership entries (one dating from 1740), book body somewhat cracking, title soiled, first leaves damstained, some foxing, otherwise overall good.
