Ohne Titel. 1992. Aquarell auf Velin. 30 x 24 cm. Insgesamt sehr gut.
Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Privatsammlung, Wilhelmshaven.
German Post War – Watercolour on wove paper. Signed and dated. Mounted in spots on support, mounted in passepartout and framed behind glass. - Sheet slightly wavy due to technique, edges slightly irregular due to technique and work. Overall very good. - Private collection, Wilhelmshaven. - In the present composition, Gotthard Graubner once again unfolds a colour space of immediate presence. Finely layered layers of watercolour on paper create a vibrant depth in which the painterly material becomes a substance in its own right. Tones spread out, sink in and overlap each other, the linear form recedes. Instead, the focus is on the surface itself, its transitions, condensations and the interplay of light and pigment. The work reflects Graubner's consistent focus on colour as an autonomous material: form does not emerge here through contour, but through colour inertia and surface movement. The work thus appears as a space of experience with its own quiet presence and inner resonance.
