Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Wir danken Walter Storms für die freundliche Bestätigung der Authentizität der Arbeit. - Das Aquarell "Dämmerungen" steht exemplarisch für Girkes Arbeit mit meditativen Farbräumen und einem prozesshaften Malverständnis. Auch im Medium des Papiers verfolgt er das Ziel, Farbe nicht im Sinne einer Darstellung, sondern als Ausdruck einer kontemplativen Auseinandersetzung mit den Möglichkeiten der Malerei erfahrbar zu machen. Die Spannung zwischen gesteuerter Setzung und kontrollierter Auflösung verweist auf Girkes Interesse an Wiederholung, Serialität und der bewussten Zurücknahme des Motivischen zugunsten einer unmittelbaren, nicht-gegenständlichen Bildwirkung.

Verso with remnants of earlier mounting. Overall very good. - We would like to thank Walter Storms for kindly confirming the authenticity of the work. - The watercolour "Dämmerungen" is exemplary of Girke's work with meditative colour spaces and a processual understanding of painting. In the medium of paper, too, he pursues the goal of making colour tangible not in the sense of representation, but as an expression of a contemplative exploration of the possibilities of painting. The tension between controlled placement and controlled dissolution points to Girke's interest in repetition, seriality, and the conscious withdrawal of motifs in favour of an immediate, non-representational pictorial effect.
