Librorum philosophicorum volumen primum. Post Naugerianam & Victorianam correctionem. Emendatum A Ioan. Sturmio. 1. Tl. (v. 2). Mit 2 Druckermarken (wiederholt) und 1 Initiale in Holzschnitt. Straßburg, Wendelin Rihel, 1541. 4 nn., 251, 39 nn. Bl. (Index, Druckerm.) Kl.-8°. Blindgepr. Schweinsldr. d. Zt. auf 3 Bünden über Holzdecken mit hs. RTit. u. 2 Metallschließen (etwas berieben, fleckig und verfärbt).

Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – VD 16 C 2852. - Schweiger II, 172. - Muller III, 402, 74. - Nicht im Index Aureliensis und bei Adams. - Erster Teil (von 2) der von ersten von Johannes Sturm (1507-89), dem einflußreichen Humanisten und Schulreformer, besorgten Ausgabe von Ciceros philosophischen Schriften. - Enthält: Academicae quaestiones. - Editio primae liber quartus, qui Lucullus inscribitur. - Editionis secunde liber prius. - De De finibus bonorum et malorum. (VD16 C 3099) und Tusculanae Quaestiones (VD16 C 3809). - Die Deckel des Einbandes gerahmt mit je 9 bezeichneten Rollenstempeln und je einem Mittelfeld mit Plattenstempel in florler Ornamentik, darauf Darstellungen von Moses, Jesus, Maria und verschiedenen Heiliger. Der Vorderdeckel zusätzlich mit der Insignie "LPB" und datiert "1541". - Titelbl. mit dem Ausscheidungsvermerk eines Karmeliterklosters und zwei weiteren älteren hs. Besitzereinträgen in Tinte. - Papierbedingt etwas gebräunt, der Schnitt mitunter leicht stock- und schmutzfleckig, sonst gut erhaltenes Exemplar im wohlerhaltenen, mit intakten Schliessen versehenen deutschen Renaissance-Einband.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – With 2 wood-cut printer's devices (one repeated) Druckermarken as well as 1 wood-cut inital. - For references see above. - First part (of two) of an early edition of Cicero's philosophical writings, here the first edition edited by Johannes Sturm (1507-89), the influential Strassburg humanist and school reformer. - Contains: Academicae quaestiones. - Editio primae liber quartus, qui Lucullus inscribitur. - Editionis secunde liber prius. - De De finibus bonorum et malorum. (VD16 C 3099) and Tusculanae Quaestiones (VD16 C 3809). - The covers of the binding are framed with nine roll stamps each and a central field each with a plate stamp with floral ornamentation, depicting Moses, Jesus, Mary, and various saints, the front panel additonally with blind-stamped letters "LPB" and dated "1541." - Title page with the dissolution note of a Carmelite monastery and two other older manuscript ownership entries in ink. - Slightly browned due to paper, the edges occasionally lightly foxed and soiled, otherwise a well-preserved copy in a well-preserved German Renaissance binding with intact clasps.
