Mit 3 Holzschnitt-Druckermarken sowie zahlreichen, mit Rankenwerk geschmückten und teils illustrierten Vignetten, Zierleisten und Initialen, alle im Holzschnitt. Köln, Offizin Birckmann für Arnold Mylius, 1595-96. Tl. 1: 4 Bll., 117 (3) S. u. 4 Bll., 117 (3) S. Tl. 2: 320 S. Kl.-8. Hldr. auf vier Schmuckbünden mit goldgeprägtem, mittels Fileten dekorierten RTit., derselbe datiert (1771) und monogrammiert (bestoßen, berieben, der Lederrücken mit vertikalen Einrissen).

Philosophie

Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Frühe Ausgabe von Epiktets "Handbüchlein" der Ethik, mit den Kommentaren des Humanisten Hieronymus Wolf. - VD16 E 1612 (Tl. 1), VD16 ZV 19244 (Tl. 1, Variantex.) u. VD16 ZV 5095 (Tl. 2). - Adams I, 230. - Text in Griechisch und Latein. - Das Titelbl. von Tl. 2 mit dem Jesuiten-Emblem als Vignette. Tl. 1 hier in 2 nacheinander gebundenen Exemplaren vorliegend, wobei das Titelbl. des zweiten typographisch leicht abweicht, sonst Neuauflage aus dem Stehsatz, jeweils mit der Marke des Druckerverlegers Mylius. - Provenienz: Bibliotheca Zalusciana, Warschau (aufgelöst 1795), mit dem Bibliotheks-Stempel auf dem Titelbl. von Tl. 1, VD16 E 1612. - Buchblock entlang des Kopfstegs mit engem Beschnitt, jedoch ohne Textverlust. Stellenweise etwas wasserrandig, wurmgängig, fleckig und mit kleinen Randläsuren. Tl. 2 mit Unterstreichungen, insgesamt sauberes Exemplar.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – Early edition of Epictetus manual of Ethics, with commentary by the German humanist Hieronymus Wolf, here vols. 1 and 2 (of 3). With three wood-cut printer's marks and numerous vignettes decorated with tendrils and partly illustrated, as well as decorative wood-cut borders and initials. - Text in Greek and Latin. - The title page of vol. 2 with the Jesuit emblem as a vignette. Vol. 1 is available here in two copies, with the title page of the second copy differing slightly in terms of typography, otherwise a new impression from the same typeset, each title page with the mark of the printer-publisher Mylius. - Provenance: Bibliotheca Zalusciana, Warsaw (dissolved in 1795), with the library stamp on the title page of vol. 1, VD16 E 1612. - With narrow trimming at the upper margin, no loss of text however. Some traces of former water-staining, wormholes, spotting and tears at margins. Part 2 with underlining, overall clean copy.
