Insgesamt gut erhaltenes Exemplar dieser in eleganer Kursiva gesetzten und mit illustrativem Schmuck gedruckten Ausgabe dieses Klassikers der Literatur der italienischen Spätrenaissance.
Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – First edition, first printing of this classic of late Renaissance Italian literature. - With 2 woodcut emblems of printer Giolitano, one on title page and another in varied form on last page verso, furthermore 5 pictorial woodcut initials as well as 16 mainly pictorial head-pieces and vignettes. - A collection of fictional dialogues among Venetian writers on death and other topics, preceded by a text of linguistic significance in the form of a letter, discussing the Italian literary language ('lingua volgare'). - Giolitos richly illustrated and large-format printer's mark is repeated on the verso of the last page. The initials and decorative head-pieces are richly and variedly enlivened throughout. - Leaves a-c8 waterstained, soiled and browned in places, rear fly-leaf with small tears along the outer edge. Overall, a well-preserved copy of this elegantly typeset and decoratively printed book.
