Contemp. blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards with red edges and two metal clasps (somewhat rubbed and stained, edges slightly rubbed, dusty, and slightly stained). - "The classic work on the missionary history of the West and East Indies with letters from the Jesuit missions" (Koppel, Bosch I, 36 for the first ed. Florence 1588). - Without the second part with the biography of Ignatius of Loyola. - With several old ownership entries ("Adhaerere pro bonum 1590", "Ex libris Joanny Caspari Caietani ... de Monte Sancto", "Ex dono B. Syboldt", etc.). - Title stamped and with deletions, slightly browned due to paper, slightly waterstained at the beginning and end, some notes in the text at the beginning, otherwise overall well preserved.
