Manuskripte und Urkunden – Barby war in der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jh. (1749-1809) Sitz der evangelischen Brüdergemeine (Herrnhuter Brüder-Unität) und der weltweiten Mission der Herrnhuter. 1749 wurde das "Seminarum Theologicum" (Predigerseminar) der Brüdergemeine vom hessischen Lindheim nach Barby verlegt, wo es im Schloss unterkam, das Graf Heinrich XXVI. von Reuß vom Kurfürstentum Sachsen gepachtet hatte, um es Graf Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf für die Brügergemeine zu überlassen. Einer der berühmtesten Schüler des Seminars war von 1785-1787 Friedrich Schleiermacher. Nach Auslauf der Pacht 1808 verlegte die Brüdergemeine ihre Einrichtung nach Gnadau. - Mit Einträgen (verso auf den einseitig bedruckten Textseiten) meist aus Barby, außerdem Neuwied, Niesky, Berlin, Amsterdam, Christianfeld, Gnadenfrey u.a. von Johann Baptist von Albertini (1769-1831, Bischof u. Liederdichter, Botaniker u. Mykologe), Emanuel Bager (1788-1866), Jacob Ulrich Sprecher von Bernegg (1765-1841, schweizer. Politiker), Hermann Johann von Campenhausen (1773-1836, livländ. Landespolitiker), Peter Friedrich Curie (1777-1855, Theologe u. Bischof), Joh. Chr. von Damnitz (1747-1818), Ernst von Gersdorff (1781-1852, Staatsminister, Diplomat), Christian Gregor (1723-1801), Johann Jänicke (1748-1827, Prediger, Gründer der 1. Missionsschule in Dtl.), Nikolaus Kramer (1780-1844), Gottlob Martin Schneider (1763-1849), Anton von Strampf (1754-1822), u.v.m., sowie von Mitgliedern der Ebenisten-Familie Roentgen (Neuwied), darunter August Roentgen, Henriette Roentgen (geb. Stobwasser) und deren Ehemann Ph. Jac. Roentgen. - Vorsatz mit spät. Monogrammstempel u. Erbvermerk, papierbedingt gebräunt, etw. fingerfleckig, sonst gut erhalten.

In: as listed above. - Later vellum with faded manuscripts (soiled). - In the second half of the 18th century (1749-1809) Barby was the seat of the Protestant Moravian Church (Moravian Brethren) and the worldwide mission of the Moravians. In 1749, the 'Seminarum Theologicum' (preachers' seminary) of the Moravian Church was moved from Lindheim in Hesse to Barby, where it was housed in the castle that Count Heinrich XXVI von Reuß had rent from the Electorate of Saxony in order to give it to Count Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf for the Moravian Church. One of the seminary's most famous students was Friedrich Schleiermacher from 1785-1787. After the rent expired in 1808, the Moravian Church moved its institution to Gnadau. - With entries (verso on the text pages) mostly from Barby, also Neuwied, Niesky, Berlin, Amsterdam, Christianfeld, Gnadenfrey. Among others as listed above. - Endpapers with later monogram stamp and hereditary note, browned due to paper, somewhat fingerstained, otherwise good condition.
