Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Eines von 40 Exemplaren der selten kompletten Folge, gedruckt auf unterschiedlichen, teils farbigen Papieren. - Gäßler 26/1-26/11. - Sämtlich signiert, datiert und nummeriert sowie nahezu sämtlich plattenbezeichnet. - Zwischen 1972 und 1984 entwirft Janssen zahlreiche Radierfolgen zum Thema des Totentanzes. In den Zyklen findet die Auseinandersetzung mit der eigenen Vergänglichkeit, die sein Werk fortwährend bestimmt, ihren Höhepunkt. Janssens Faszination für die enge Nachbarschaft von Tod und Leben, von Erscheinung und Zerfall kommt dabei in höchst virtuoser künstlerischer Manier zum Ausdruck. Seine persönliche Verstrickung, teils als Protagonist des Geschehens, zeigt sich in den Selbstbildnissen, die fast alle Zyklen einleiten oder begleiten. In unserer Graphikfolge schildert Janssen das Motiv von Tod und Mädchen in Form einer balladesken Erzählung, die mit der Aufforderung zum Tanz beginnt und in einer erotischen Ekstase kulminiert. - Teils ganz vereinzelt winziger oder blasser (Finger-)fleck, ein Blatt ganz leicht gebräunt und mit wenigen blassweißen Flecken, ein Blatt in äußersten Kanten minimal gebräunt. - Durchweg prachtvolle, gratige und ausgesprochen nuancenreiche Drucke mit klar zeichnender Plattenkante und Rand, teils mit Schöpfrand, insgesamt schönes Exemplar der kompletten Folge.

German Post War – Eleven etchings on different, partly coloured papers. Each signed, dated and numbered as well as mostly indicated in the plate. Each loose in mat. In original cardboard box. - Partly very isolated tiny or faint (finger)stain, one print very lightly browned and with a few faint-white stains, one print minimally browned in outermost edges, box on the outside with light surface abrasions and faint colour traces in spots, corners partly lightly bumped, inside clean. All in all very good. Throughout superb, burr-like impressions, extremely rich in nuances, with clear platemark and margin, some with deckle edge. - Complete series with corresponding portfolio. - Each one of 40 copies. - Printed by Atelier Volker Sammet, Stuttgart, edited by Luigi Toninelli, Agno (Switzerland) and Cayman Graphicm George Town (Cayman Islands, British West Indies) 1974. - Janssen creates numerous series of etchings on the theme of the Dance of the Death between 1972 and 1984. In these, the confrontation with his own transience, which constantly dominates his work, reaches its climax. Janssen's fascination for the close proximity of death and life, of appearance and decay, is expressed in a highly virtuoso artistic manner. His personal entanglement, he himself a protagonist of most of the events, is evident in his self-portraits that introduce or accompany almost all series. In our prints Janssen depicts the motif of the death with a girl in a ballad-like narrative that begins with an invitation to dance and culminates in an erotic ecstasy.
