Photographie - Moderne Photographie – Griffelkunst 376 376 B1-B6.
Modern Photography – Portfolio with 6 photographs. Each inkjet print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl. Each signed on the verso. In original wing folder. - One sheet with faint mark of the wing folder, isolated minimal creases. All in all very good. - Published by the Griffelkunst-Vereinigung Hamburg, 2019. Complete series. In this edition, Jonothan Monk combines the clean lines of modernism with a contemporary reflection on perception and repetition. Taking Wilhelm Wagenfeld's iconic design as his starting point, Monk gently transforms the object by incorporating the fleeting light of a sunset into his design. The soft colour gradients do not serve a decorative purpose, but rather evoke the passage of time and shifting moods. Thus, the supposed objectivity of the design is expanded by a poetic dimension. Monk navigates the space between homage and an independent artistic gesture by recontextualising the familiar. The result is a work that appears both familiar and transformed, raising questions about originality and variation. Wagenfeld Sunsets thus becomes a quiet exploration of light, memory and the enduring impact of modern design.
