Lot 459 Thomas Ruff. 2 Arbeiten. Bronx I. Aus: …
2 Arbeiten. Bronx I. Aus: Sequences. 1998. - Insgesamt sehr gut. Prachtvoller, kontrastreicher Druck mit körniger, farbsatter Wirkung.
Photographie - Moderne Photographie – Schellmann 83-84. - Je eines von 60 Exemplaren. - Hg. Edition Schellmann, München/New York.
Modern Photography – Giclée print on Fabriano Velin paper. Signed and numbered and with publisher's stamp on the reverse. - In very good condition overall. A magnificent, high-contrast print with a grainy, richly coloured effect. - One of 60 copies. - Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. - "Bronx I" draws on the principle of the stereo photographs produced by Thomas Ruff in the mid-1990s: two almost identical aerial photographs of the same neighbourhood mimic the slightly offset perspective of the left and right eyes. When viewed through a stereoscope, the images merge into an immersive three-dimensional scene, transforming documentary urban photography into a physically tangible experience. In doing so, Ruff reveals that seeing is not a neutral act, but a constructive process that takes place in the brain.
