Lot 457 Jürgen Klauke. Heimspiel. Aus: …
Heimspiel. Aus: Sonntagsneurosen. 1990/1991. Cibachromeprint auf Ilfochrome Classic Papier. 100 x 80 cm. Signiert und nummeriert. - Insgesamt sehr gut.
- Hg. Schellmann Edition, München/New York.
Modern Photography – Cibachrome print on Ilfochrome Classic paper. Signed and numbered. - Overall, very good. A magnificent, high-contrast print of the fullsize composition with a grainy, nuanced effect. - One of 99 copies. - Published by Schellmann Edition, Munich/New York. - In his staged self-portraits, Jürgen Klauke consistently uses his own body as a medium to explore gender, identity and social norms, employing a visual language that oscillates between theatricality and analytical detachment. This approach is condensed in the present work: the upright figure, clad in a black robe, exudes a sense of static control, whilst the box-shaped object, which distorts the silhouette from within, simultaneously undermines this sovereignty. The series Sonntagsneurosen revolves around states of stagnation and underlying unease, in which the everyday becomes a stage for latent dysfunction. The title Heimspiel heightens this ambivalence to the point of irony: what promises superiority and familiarity proves to be a fragile arrangement.
