Edition Schellmann, München/New York. - Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt eine belebte Straßenschlucht New Yorks in der für Bill Jacobson charakteristischen Unschärfe: Passanten und Fassaden lösen sich in Bewegungsschlieren auf, die Architektur bleibt als dunkle Masse kaum greifbar. Jacobson, der seit 1989 konsequent mit der photographischen Unschärfe arbeitet, orientiert sich an der fragmentarischen Wahrnehmung des menschlichen Gedächtnisses, die Präzision der Kamera gilt ihm nicht als Maßstab der Wirklichkeit. Das Blatt erschien im Portfolio Double Exposure, das photographische Diptychen von 14 Künstlern versammelt und den Begriff der Doppelbelichtung konzeptuell als Idee des Paarens zweier Photographien begreift.

Jacobson, who has worked consistently with photographic blur since 1989, draws on the fragmentary nature of human memory, for him, the precision of the camera is not a measure of reality. The print appeared in the portfolio Double Exposure, which brings together photographic diptychs by 14 artists and conceptually interprets the term 'double exposure' as the idea of pairing two photographs.
