Photographie - Moderne Photographie – Je eines von 45 Exemplaren. - Hg. Edition Schellmann, München/New York.

Modern Photography – Sunset 1 and Sunset 2. 2002. From: Double Exposure. Each Cibachrome print on vellum, mounted on Plexiglas. Each signed and numbered on label on the reverse. - In very good condition overall. Magnificent, richly coloured prints. - Each one of 45 copies. - Publ. Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. - One of 45 copies. - Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. - From the Double Exposure portfolio, a collaborative project involving 14 artists that brings together photographic diptychs and interprets the concept of double exposure as the pairing of two photographs. - These two works by Axel Hütte depict water surfaces whose reflections of light and vegetation dissolve into patterns of colour and texture that oscillate between abstraction and figuration. Hütte, who studied under Bernd and Hilla Becher, turned his attention to the ephemeral and atmospheric, unlike many of his fellow students such as Gurky, Struth and Höfer, and in his photographs creates access to light, reflection and the natural environment, rather than remaining at an analytical distance. The mounting on Plexiglas enhances the luminosity of the Cibachrome prints and lends the images a visual presence that constantly shifts between painting and photography.
