Lot 452 Douglas Isaac Busch. Water Reservoire. 1987. …
Water Reservoire. 1987.
Photographie - Moderne Photographie – Vgl: Douglas Isaac Busch, In Plain Sight, Rockford 1993, Nr. 32. - Beigegeben: Douglas Isaac Busch, In Plain Sight, Rockford 1993.
Modern Photography – Block print on lightly grained vellum with a hand-made edge. Signed and inscribed by a third party, with an embossed remark in the margin. Mounted in places beneath the passe-partout. - Overall, an exceptionally fine and clean copy. - Using large-format cameras of his own design and 12x20-inch negatives, Busch produced contact prints of exceptional sharpness and tonal range that could not be achieved through enlargement. This work depicts a massive cylindrical industrial building that is almost swallowed up by densely packed willow trees, thus becoming a silent commentary on the agricultural landscape of the Midwest. In his documentary precision and cool objectivity, Busch consciously follows in the footsteps of New Objectivity and American Straight Photography, yet at the same time subverts their sublime reverence for nature by translating monumentality into a form of quiet irritation. - Enclosed: Douglas Isaac Busch, In Plain Sight, Rockford 1993.
