Pop Art – Im vorliegenden Unikatdruck greift Mel Ramos das Format der Anziehpuppe auf, ein seit dem 18. Jahrhundert verbreitetes Kinderspielzeug, das den weiblichen Körper als austauschbare Projektionsfläche für Kleider und Rollen entwirft. Die nackte Frauenfigur steht frontal und unbewegt im Zentrum, umgeben von fünf historisierenden Kleidungsstücken mit charakteristischen Ansteck-Laschen. Was als harmlose Kindheitserinnerung beginnt, entlarvt sich als präzise Analyse: Der weibliche Körper dient als Träger-, Anprobe- und Präsentationsobjekt und veranschaulicht eine Struktur, die Werbung und Modeindustrie bis heute reproduziert.

Pop Art – Fashion. - Offset lithograph on stiff vellum. Signed and dated. Mounted in places. - A few faint handling marks, on the reverse a note in another hand and some scattered faint scuffs. Overall, in very good condition. An excellent print, with nuanced and fresh colours. - Unique One-off print. - Ramos draws on the format of the dress-up doll, a children's toy that has been popular since the 18th century and which presents the female body as an interchangeable canvas for clothes and roles. The naked female figure stands motionless and facing the viewer in the centre, surrounded by five historical garments with characteristic clip-on tabs. What begins as a harmless childhood memory is revealed to be a precise analysis: the female body serves as an object for wearing, trying on and presenting, and illustrates a structure that the advertising and fashion industries continue to reproduce to this day.
