Lot 368 Monica Bonvicini. Minimal Romantik. 2005. …

Minimal Romantik. 2005. Digitalpigmentdruck auf halbtransparenter Folie. 68,2 x 75 cm. Signiert und nummeriert. - Insgesamt sehr gut. Ausgezeichneter, nuancierter Druck der formatfüllenden Komposition.

Konzeptkunst – Eines von 40 Exemplaren. - Hg. Edition Schellmann, München/New York. anlässlich der 51. Biennalie Venedig, 2005.

Conceptual Art – Conceptual Art. - Digital pigment print on semi-transparent foil. Signed and numbered. - Overall, very good. Excellent, nuanced printing of the full-page composition. - One of 40 copies. - Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/New York. On the occasion of the 51st Venice Biennale, 2005. - This edition documents Bonvicini's work of the same name at the 51st Venice Biennale 2005: a cube made of white Ytong blocks, the dimensions of a Sol LeWitt sculpture, whose surface was chiselled away by construction workers during the opening days, modelled on Caspar David Friedrich's The Ice Sea, without the artist having provided them with precise instructions on how to proceed. The title refers to the collision expressed by the work: minimalism meets Romanticism, conceptual rigour meets painterly gesture, and the formal cube is transformed into rubble through physical labour. Bonvicini's work is regarded as paradigmatic for a generation of artists who conceive of space and architecture as material for negotiating discourses on power and politics.
