Lot 296 Josef Scharl. Portrait einer Dame. 1923. …
Portrait einer Dame. 1923. Bleistift auf braunem Velin. 40,5 x 25,5 cm. Signiert und datiert. Punktuell auf Unterlage und unter Passepartout montiert. - Blatt altersbedingt leicht gebräunt und an den Kanten etwas lichtrandig, Ränder teils leicht unregelmäßig. Verso mit Resten einer früheren Montierung. Insgesamt gut.
Classical Modernism – Pencil on brown laid paper. Signed and dated. Mounted in places on underlying mat and under a passe-partout. - Sheet slightly browned due to age, some light discolouration along the edges, edges are partly slightly irregular. On the reverse remnants of a previous mounting. Overall in good condition. - This drawing was created during a particularly artistically productive period for Josef Scharl: Immediately after leaving the Munich Academy of Fine Arts prematurely, where he had studied under Heinrich von Zügel, he continued his education as a self-taught artist and, within the circle of the New Munich Secession, developed his own visual language, which remains committed to expressive realism and contrasts his expressive forms with an ornamental balance.
