Dorflandschaft. 1924. Aquarell auf Bütten. 50 x 65 cm. Signiert und datiert. - Ecken und Ränder stellenweise mit leichten Einrissen, Ecken partiell mit kleinen Fehlstellen, verso mit Spuren ehemaliger Montierung, Papier dezent gebräunt und fleckig. Insgesamt gut, die Farben leuchtend.

Klassische Moderne – Das vorliegende Werk steht charakteristisch für das Schaffen Heinz Lewerenz', der insbesondere für seine expressionistischen Aquarelle in leuchtender Farbigkeit Bekanntheit erlangt. Der deutsche Künstler studiert Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts an der Kunstgewerbeschule in Bielefeld bei Ludwig Godewols und Hans Perathoner und später, nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg, an der Kunstakademie in Dresden. Aus dieser Zeit stammt auch unser Aquarell, in dessen Entstehungsjahr Lewerenz Teil einer Ausstellung der Künstler-Vereinigung Dresden ist und eine Vielzahl an Waldstücken schuf. 1937 wird ein Großteil der Werke von Heinz Lewerenz von den Nationalsozialisten beschlagnahmt und vernichtet.

Classical Modernism – Watercolour on handmade paper. Signed and dated. - Corners and edges show slight tears in spots, corners have small areas of loss, traces of former mounting on the verso, paper is slightly browned and stained. Overall in good condition, the colours are vibrant. - This work is characteristic of Heinz Lewerenz's Oeuvre, who is particularly renowned for his expressionist watercolours in vibrant colours. The German artist studied at the School of Applied Arts in Bielefeld under Ludwig Godewols and Hans Perathoner at the beginning of the 20th century and later, after the First World War, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden. Our watercolour also dates from this period, in the year it was created, Lewerenz took part in an exhibition organised by the Künstler-Vereinigung Dresden and executed a wide range of forest landscapes. In 1937, a large proportion of Heinz Lewerenz's works were confiscated and destroyed by the Nazis.
