Internationales Postwar – Vgl.: Moll, S.117, Band I. - Julia Codesido arbeitete ab 1931 als Professorin für Zeichnen und Malerei an der Nationalen Schule der Schönen Künste von Peru. Neben ihrer Lehrtätigkeit ist die peruanische Künstlerin zu dieser Zeit als feministische Aktivistin tätig und eine Verfechterin des Indigenismus. Sie entwickelt eine einzigartige Bildsprache, die Themen peruanischer Identität verhandelt, sich jedoch nicht auf folkloristische Darstellungsweisen beschränkt. Der europäische Einfluss, welcher durch zahlreiche Reisen in die Schweiz, nach Spanien, England und Frankreich entsteht, zeigt sich vor allem im vorliegenden Werk, in dem eine naturalistische Darstellung der Landschaft der abstrakten, expressionistischen Komposition und kontrastreichen Farbgebung weicht.

The colours are fresh. - From 1931 onwards, Julia Codesido worked as a professor of drawing and painting at the National School of Fine Arts of Peru. Alongside her teaching, the Peruvian artist was active at this time as a feminist activist and an advocate of Indigenism. She developed a unique visual language that addresses themes of Peruvian identity, yet is not limited to folkloric representations. The European influence, resulting from numerous trips to Switzerland, Spain, England and France, is particularly evident in this work, in which a naturalistic depiction of the landscape gives way to an abstract, expressionist composition and a colour scheme rich in contrast.
