Description méthodique d'une collection de minéraux du cabinet de M. D. R. D. L. (= Monsieur de Romé de l'Isle). Mit gestochenem allegorischem Frontispiz von Aug. de St. Aubin nach C. Monnel sowie mehreren Vignetten und Zierleisten im Holzschnitt. Paris, Didot jeune und Knapen, 1773. XXXII, 299, (5, Reg., Druckerpriv.) S. 8°. Interimsbr. d. Zt. aus Schneckenmarmorpapier (dieses aus mehreren Einzelstücken montierte, vereinzelt fleckig, an den Ecken bestoßen, Kopfschnitt fleckig).

Naturwissenschaften – Erste und einzige Ausgabe des beschreibenden Katalogs einer substantiellen Mineraliensammlung. - DSB XI, 521. - Hoover 690. - Schuh 4154. - Sotheby's, Freilich Coll. 464. - Wilson, History of Mineral Collection, S. 50-53. - Enthält ausführliche Beschreibungen von rund 750 metallhaltigen Exponaten aus der bedeutenden Sammlung von Romé de l'Isle (1736-1790), einem französischen Mineralogen und Mitbegründer der modernen Kristallographie, mit Angaben zu Herkunft, Begleitmineralien, Fundort, Größe, geschätztem Gewicht der enthaltenen Edelmetalle, sowie Nennung eines etwaigen Schenkers. 68 Exemplare aus Romé de l'Isles Sammlung wurden in Gautier d'Agotys "Histoire Naturelle" (1781) farbig abgebildet, zu der Romé de l'Isle den Text verfasste. Seine Mineraliensammlung wird heute im Pariser Naturhistorischen Museum aufbewahrt. - Titelblatt mit kleinem Besitzervermerk im oberen weißen Rand, die oberen weißen Ränder einiger Blätter mit kleinem Wasserfleck am, sonst sehr gut erhaltenes, unbeschnittenes Exemplar, gedruckt auf dickem Papier.

Natural Sciences – Geology. - Mineralogy. - First and only edition of the descriptive catalogue of a most substantial mineral collection. Bound in contemporary snail marbled paper and illustrated with a gorgeous engraved allegorical frontispiece. - For references see above. - Contains detailed descriptions of approximately 750 metal-bearing specimens from the most important collection of Romé de l'Isle (1736-1790), a French mineralogist and co-founder of modern crystallography, with information on origin, associated minerals, location, size, estimated weight of the precious metals contained, and mention of any donor. 68 specimens from Romé de l'Isle's collection were illustrated in color in Gautier d'Agoty's "Histoire Naturelle" (1781), for which Romé himnself wrote the text. His mineral collection is now housed in the Natural History Museum in Paris. - Title leave with small owner's remark in the upper white margin, the upper white margins of some leaves have small water stains, otherwise, a very well-preserved, untrimmed copy, printed on thick paper.
