Modern Literature and Art – One of 110 hand-numbered copies, signed and dated by the artist. - A rare series of illustrations in the Bauhaus style, consisting of multicolored, partly pictographic compositions created using geometric elements. The images depict scenes from the Old Testament (Adam and Eve, among others), plants and animals, and scenes from agriculture, transportation, and industry. The prints are bold and in rich colors, the title leaf, leaf with list of plates, and the leaf with the colophon are printed in red and blue. - The Leipzig-based illustrator Hellmuth Weissenborn (1898-1982) is primarily known as an illustrator of children's books and a private press printer in England (Acorn Press), where he emigrated in 1938. - The pages show very slight browning throughout, otherwise a well-preserved copy of the modernist picture book.
