Skulptur
Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Privatsammlung, Berlin. Insgesamt sehr gut.
Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Wood, carved, polychrome painted and partially gilded. - Paintwork partially with slight craquelure, some minor rubbing and knocks. Overall very good condition. - Private collection, Berlin. - This statue of Mary probably originates from southern Germany and follows the iconographic type of the apocalyptic woman established in the 17th century: Mary stands in a dignified posture, praying with her hands folded, on the globe, which is entwined by a dragon- or snake-like creature as a symbol of evil overcome. The curved posture and flowing cloak reflect Baroque formal traditions and are reproduced in the decorative language of devotional sculpture from the late 19th century.
