Thienemann 812, 815, 816. - Die Folge "Das Paradies oder die Schöpfung und der Sündenfall des ersten Menschenpaares" gehört zu den eindrucksvolleren religiös-allegorischen Bildserien im druckgraphischen Ouvre Johann Elias Ridingers. In 12 Blättern entfaltet sie die biblische Geschichte von der Erschaffung Adams und Evas bis zu deren Vertreibung aus dem Paradies. Die hier vorliegenden drei Blätter zeigen zentrale Szenen dieses Zyklus und verbinden die erzählerische Darstellung des Alten Testaments mit Ridingers charakteristischer, außerordentlich differenzierter Wiedergabe der Tierwelt. Unterhalb der Darstellungen finden sich jeweils mehrzeilige biblische Verse, in deutsch, französisch und latein.

The series "Paradise, or the Creation and Fall of the First Couple" is one of the most striking religious-allegorical series of prints in Johann Elias Ridinger's oeuvre. Across 12 plates, it unfolds the biblical story from the creation of Adam and Eve to their expulsion from Paradise. Below each illustration are multi-line biblical verses in German, French and Latin.
