Alte Künstlergraphik

Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Privatsammlung, Berlin. - Nach einem Motiv aus der 1515/1516 entstandenen Folge der Raffael-Kartons, Apg 3: 1 - 8. Victoria and Albert Museum, Invent. Nr. ROYAL LOANS.4.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Copperplate engraving on handmade paper. Mounted flat on a board and painted over with gouache at the edges. The paper is browned with age and has scattered brown spots, it is slightly rubbed in places. Overall in good condition with an excellent, crisp impression. - Private collection, Berlin. - Based on a motif from the series of Raphael's cartoons created in 1515/1516, Acts 3:1-8. Victoria and Albert Museum, Inv. No. ROYAL LOANS.4. - A monumental engraving based on Raphael's composition from the Acts of the Apostles cycle. Dorigny translates the balanced, classical-style figure composition and the sculptural modelling of the High Renaissance into a sophisticated system of the finest lines and cross-hatching, thereby creating his own, line-based interpretation. The series ranks among the most significant print adaptations of Raphael in the early 18th century. - Accompanied by: Fragment of a copperplate engraving "Medicina dell'alma e un saggio avviso".
