Varia (mit diversen Schlagworten) – Erweiterte dritte Auflage der populären, nichtsdestotrotz selten angebotenen Spielesammlung für die "lebensfrohe deutsche Familie" (Tit.) des Biedermeier. - Nicht bei Holzmann-Bohatta. - Erstmals 1818 erschienen und bis zum Ende des 19. Jh. vielfach neu aufgelegt, enthält vorliegendes, unter dem Motto "Freut Euch des Lebens" stehendes durchaus kurioses Werk gemäß Untertitel "die besten Spiele, Lieder, Declamir- und Kunststücke, Räthsel, Charaden etc." Nach Jahreszeiten gegliedert, beginnt die Sammlung im Frühling mit zahlreichen Karten und Zaubertricks, Spielen im Freien, Brett- und Gesellschaftsspielen, Liedtexten und Rätseln. - "Das idyllische Familienleben einer "freundlichen Familie", die "in fröhlicher Eintracht ein friedliches Leben führte" und "in einer der lieblichsten Gegenden unseres deutschen Vaterlandes" siedelt, soll dabei als Vorbild für Leser und Leserinnen dienen. Nach "des Tages Last und Hitze" sind gemeinsame Spiele eine Quelle familiärer Freuden". (Kühme, Bürger und Spiel, S. 90). - Durchgehend leicht stockfleckig, sonst gut erhaltenes Exemplar. - Dabei: Q. (Rücken mit Fehlstellen am oberen und unterem Ende, Hinterumschl. wasserfleckig und lichtrandig, gering gebräunt). - Erste und einzige Ausgabe dieser seltenen Abhandlung über das beliebte Stichkartenspiel "Quadrille", eine Variante des spanischen Spiels Ombre, das im späten 18. Jahrhundert und während der Regency-Zeit in England eine Blütezeit erlebte. - Der Schnitt minimal schmutzig, sonst sehr gut erhalten.

Varia and Miscellaneous – Expanded third edition of the popular collection of games for the "joyful German family" (title) of the Biedermeier era. - Not in Holzmann-Bohatta. - First published in 1818 and reprinted many times until the end of the 19th century, this curious work contains, according to its subtitle, "the best games, songs, declamations and tricks, riddles, charades, etc." Organized by season, the collection begins in spring with numerous card games and magic tricks, outdoor games, board and parlor games, song lyrics, and riddles. - "The idyllic family life of a "friendly family" who "led a peaceful life in joyful harmony" and lived "in one of the loveliest regions of our German fatherland" is intended to serve as a model for readers. After "the day's burdens and heat," playing games together is a source of familial joy." (cf. Kühme, see above). - Light foxing throughout, otherwise a well-preserved copy of this curious item indeed. - Bound with: Q. Quanti (Pseud.). Quadrille elucidated.
