Progress Record of Power Plant 1912-1914. Photographische Dokumentation des von der Collins Company durchgeführten Bau des Kraftwerks am Farmington River in Collinsville (Connecticut) mit 91 Cyanotypien u. 6 Silbergelatineabzügen. Format je ca. 12,7 x 17,7 cm, 1 kl. Portraitphoto 7 x 4,5 cm. Mont. in Album d. Zt. Quer-4°. Gepr. Ldr. (berieben, bestoßen, Kapitale mit Fehlstellen).

Photographie - Photographen – Das kleine Portrait zeigt den Hydraulikingenieur und "Chief Engineer" Edwin O. Ball aus Springfield, Massachusetts, der mit dem Bauingenieur Lawrence Johnson von der Collins Company zusammenarbeitete, um einen Staudamm und ein Kraftwerk zu planen und zu bauen. - Die Aufnahmen aus dem Zeitraum vom 30. März 1912 bis zum 3. Juni 1914 zeigen versch. Flussansichten, Errichtung des Damms und des Gebäudes, Gleise u. Lokomotive, Baustellengerät, Innenansichten mit Maschinen etc. - Ein ausführlicher Artikel, der im August 1913 im Hartford Courant erschien, beschreibt das Bauvorhaben wie folgt: "As one approaches the place he first sees an area of about three acres of land north of the dam, which a year ago was covered with timber, now covered from two to fifteen feet deep with over eighty thousand yards of earth excavated from the canal and the forebay, making a level open field lying beside the river above the dam. The entire dam, including the fore-bay wall at the east end and the waste gates at the west end, is 400 feet long ... The building Itself will be 50 feet 4 inches by 38 feet 8 inches, and one story high. The concrete foundation from its base to the top of the concrete rings on which the two generators will rest is 39 feet 3 Inches high, and is built on solid ledge. The power will be generated by two large vertical water wheels within the walls of the powerhouse, the wheels resting on solid concrete. Two openings, each 14 by 9 feet in size, will admit the water through the foundation walls to the wheel. The floor on which the wheels will rest Is about the same level as the bottom of the canal ... The powerhouse building will be of brick with a flat parapet roof, and is being built by the Torrington Building Company of Torrington." - Die Silbergelatineabzüge leicht ausgesilbert, sonst insg. wohlerhalten.
Photography – Technology - Photographic documentation of the construction of the power plant on the Farmington River in Collinsville, Connecticut, by the Collins Company, comprising 91 cyanotypes and 6 silver gelatin prints. Mounted in contemp. leather album (rubbed, bumped, ends of spine with defects). - A small portrait shows hydraulic engineer and Chief Engineer Edwin O. Ball from Springfield, Massachusetts, who worked with civil engineer Lawrence Johnson of the Collins Company to plan and build a dam and power plant. The photographs, taken between March 30, 1912, and June 3, 1914, depict various river views, the construction of the dam and building, tracks and locomotive, interior views with machinery, etc. - The silver gelatin prints show slight silvering, but are otherwise in good condition overall.
