Photographie - Photographen – Erwin Baur, der deutsche Botaniker und Genetiker, dokumentierte bei einer Raise auf den kanarischen Inseln die heimischen Pflanzen sowie auch Land und Leute. Baur gilt als bedeutender Vetreter der Neodarwinismus und der experimentellen Populationsgenetik und er erhielt aufgrund seiner Verdienste zahlreiche Ehrungen. Seine Rolle in der deutschen eugenischen Bewegung ist umstritten. - Tls. stärker ausgesilbert. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene Sammlung mit zahlreichen u.a. botanischen Photographien.

Gelatin silver prints, some mounted on 69 cardboard panels, loose in hardback covers with mounted labels. Erwin Baur, the German botanist and geneticist, documented the native flora as well as the landscape and people during an expedition to the Canary Islands. Baur is regarded as a leading figure in neo-Darwinism and experimental population genetics, and received numerous honours for his achievements. His role in the German eugenics movement is controversial. - Some items are heavily silver-etched. Overall, a very well-preserved collection containing numerous botanical photographs, amongst others.
