Franz Hogenberg, Köln. - Ansicht von Konstanz aus dem berühmten Städtebuch von Braun und Hogenberg, das ab 1572 erschien und zu den bedeutendsten topographischen Publikationen des 16. Jahrhunderts gehört. In der charakteristischen Vogelpersepktive entfaltet sich die Stadt als dicht befestigtes Gemeinwesen am Rhein in idealisierender, repräsentativer Bildauffassung. - Blatt altersbedingt gebräunt, an den oberen Kanten mit den Spuren früherer Montierung, partiell leicht knickspurig, kleine, punktuelle Fleckchen. Insgesamt gut.

The sheet is discoloured due to age, with traces of previous mounting along the upper edges, there are some slight creases in places and small, scattered spots. Overall in good condition. - Edited by Georg Braun, illustrated by Franz Hogenberg, Cologne. - A view of Constance from the famous city atlas by Braun and Hogeberg, which was first published in 1572 and ranks among the most significant topographical publications of the 16th century. In the characteristic bird's-eye view, the city unfolds as a densely fortified community on the Rhine, depicted in an idealised, representative style.
