Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Kraftvoll zeigt sich Berners zentrales, rechteckiges Farbfeld in einem tiefen Bordeauxrot. Dieses Farbfeld ist dominant und nahezu monochrom, wodurch es eine ruhige und meditative Wirkung entfaltet. Das Rechteck wird von einem lebhaften, expressiven Rahmen umgeben, der aus Farbspritzern, verlaufenden Linien und tropfenartigen Strukturen besteht. Hier findet sich ein breites Farbspektrum aus Rot, Blau, Gelb und Grün, was einen kraftvollen Kontrast zum zentralen Rot darstellt. Typisch für seine Arbeiten zeichnet sich die Zeichnung durch eine Kombination aus kontrollierter Fläche und freier, gestischer Malweise aus. Here, a broad spectrum of colors ranging from red to blue, yellow, and green creates a powerful contrast to the central red. Typical of his work, the drawing is characterized by a combination of controlled surfaces and free, gestural painting. The red is applied evenly and opaquely, while the outer zone is enlivened by spontaneous brushstrokes, splashes, and drips.
