Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Berners Flächenraum entfaltet sich mit einem markanten rechteckigen, tiefblauen Farbfeld im Zentrum. Von diesem zarten bis intensiven Blau gehen gestische, teils spritzende und fließende Farbspuren aus, die sich vor allem nach links ausbreiten und in unterschiedlichen Blautönen sowie vereinzelten Grünnuancen und Wasserflecken erscheinen. Das Bild wirkt sehr reduziert und konzentriert sich auf das Zusammenspiel zwischen geometrischer Strenge und spontan-emotionalem Farbauftrag . Das rechteckige Zentrum ist kompakt und geschlossen und zieht den Blick des Betrachters in die Tiefe. Während der Rand dagegen aufgelockert durch dynamische Pinsel- und Spritzspuren vorträgt, die dem ansonsten ruhigen Arrangement Energie und Dynamik verleihen.

With delicate studio marks and small holes at the edge. - Berners' surface space unfolds with a striking rectangular, deep blue color field in the center. From this delicate to intense blue, gestural, partly splattering and flowing traces of color emanate, spreading mainly to the left and appearing in various shades of blue as well as isolated shades of green and water spots. The painting appears very minimalist and focuses on the interplay between geometric rigor and spontaneous, emotional color application. The rectangular center is compact and closed, drawing the viewer's gaze into the depths. In contrast, the edges are broken up by dynamic brushstrokes and splashes, which lend energy and dynamism to the otherwise calm arrangement.
