Anstatt die Flagge als patriotisches Symbol zu nutzen, interessiert sich Johns für deren Bedeutung als Zeichen und dekonstruiert, wiederholt und verändert das Motiv subtil.

Instead of using the flag as a patriotic symbol, Johns is interested in its meaning as a sign and subtly deconstructs, repeats and alters the motif.
