Lot 338 Peter Dreher. Glas vom Tag. 1984. Aquarell …
Glas vom Tag. 1984. Aquarell und Bleistift auf Velin. 25,5 x 21,5 cm.
Contemporary Art – Watercolour and pencil on wove paper. Signed and dated. - Each with a tiny pinhole in the corners, paper slightly wavy due to the technique. Overall very good and clean. - The watercolour Glass by Day is exemplary of Peter Dreher's artistic practice, which is based on the repeated depiction of an empty glass of water. In the present work, the glass appears in a matter-of-fact frontal view and uniform daylight, with the watercolour technique particularly emphasising the translucency, refraction of light and material fleetingness. Dreher uses the technical reduction of his minimalist compositions of clear lines and controlled colour gradients to concentrate on the essentials: Light, materiality and perception. The apparent repetition is not an end in itself, but part of an analytical process that makes seeing itself the subject.
