Zeitgenössische Kunst – Eines von 100 Exemplaren. - Tacita Dean ist eine britische Künstlerin, welche insbesondere für ihre filmischen Installationen und Photographien bekannt ist sowie sich weiterhin mit den Medien der Malerei, der Zeichnung, sowie Klanginstallationen auseinandersetzt. Für das Werk "Fountain of Eternal Youth" setzte sich Dean mit dem Gemälde "Der Jungbrunnen" von Lucas Cranach d.Ä. auseinander. Dem Werk, welches als Allegorie für die Schönheit und die Erneuerung verstanden werden kann, fügt Dean eine zeitgenössische Perspektive hinzu, indem sie einzelne Bildausschnitte vergrößert und diese anhand der unikatär monotypischen Bearbeitung aus ihrem ursprünglichen Kontext löst. Trotz der großen Zeitspanne, welche die beiden Werke trennt, bleibt das Streben unserer Gesellschaft nach Schönheit und Unsterblichkeit unverändert, was von Tacita Dean auf eindrucksvolle Weise sensibel und vielschichtig neu verhandelt wird.

For the work 'Fountain of Eternal Youth', Dean explored the painting 'The Fountain of Youth' by Lucas Cranach the Elder. Dean adds a contemporary perspective to the work, which can be viewed as an allegory for beauty and rejuvenation, by enlarging individual sections of the painting and detaching them from their original context by means of the unique monotypical reworking. Despite the great span of time that divides the two works, our society's striving for beauty and immortality remains unchanged, as Tacita Dean impressively redefines in a sensitive and multi-layered approach.
