Zwei stehende weibliche Akte, Köpfe aneinandergeschmiegt. Um 1939-45. Bleistift, Farbstift und Feder auf Velin. 40,5 x 30 cm. Monogrammiert. Unter Passepartout montiert sowie unter Glas gerahmt. - Papierbedingt mit leichter Anbräunung (etwas stärker im Passepartoutausschnitt), verso mit Spuren vorheriger Montierung (unten rechts durchscheinend, nur vereinzelt etwas fingerfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut. Komposition erfasst in dynamischer Strichführung.

Zuvor Sammlung Hans Laabs, Berlin. - Merckert Z 1019. - Die Zeichnung gehört zu jenen, zwischen den späten 1930er- und frühen 1940er-Jahren entstandenen Arbeiten Jeanne Mammens, in denen sich ihre expressive Linienführung mit einer zunehmend introspektiven Thematik verbindet. Die beiden eng aneinandergelehnten weiblichen Akte bilden eine fragile, fast schwebende Einheit. Mammen löst die Körper in ein Geflecht aus nervös gesetzten Federstrichen, lasierenden Farbstiftakzenten und fein modulierten Bleistiftlinien auf und erzeugt durch die entstehenden, überlagernden Konturen, ein Zusammenspiel von Nähe und Distanz, das sowohl physische Intimität als auch psychische Verletzlichkeit sichtbar macht. Inhaltlich befasst sich Mammen mit dem Bild der Frau, der existenziellen Unsicherheit sowie der Erkundung innerer Befindlichkeiten in einer Zeit politischer und gesellschaftlicher Bedrängnis.

Mounted under mat and framed under glass. - Slight browning due to the paper (slightly more pronounced in the mat cut-out), traces of previous mounting on the reverse (showing through at the bottom right), only a few isolated finger marks. Overall in good condition. Composition captured in dynamic lines. - Provenance: Private collection, Berlin. Before: Hans Laabs Collection, Berlin. - This drawing from the late 1930s and early 1940s, reflects Jeanne Mammen's blend of expressive line and introspective mood. The two leaning female nudes form a fragile unity, their bodies dissolved into layered pen strokes and subtle colour accents that evoke both intimacy and vulnerability. The work highlights Mammen's ongoing engagement with the female figure, inner emotional states in the politically and socially troubled era.
