French Post War – Pencil on wove paper (with watermark "Paris Renage"). With the red monogram stamp. - On verso in the upper corners with traces of previous mounting. Very good overall. - Delicate drawing captured in dynamic lines. - Jean Cocteau combined poetry, painting and film in his work to create a unique artistic language. Part of the Parisian avant-garde and closely associated with artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marcel Proust, he developed a visual and formal language that is characterised by strong symbolism. Cocteau's work is preserved in important collections such as the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris and continues to influence the reception of modern art and literature to this day.
