16 Arbeiten, in: Unica Zürn: Les jeux à deux. 1989. Je Kaltnadelradierung auf China, aufgezogen auf Arches-Velin (m. Wz.).
German Post War – 16 works. Drypoint etchings on China, on Arches wove paper(w. watermark). Each signed, dated and numbered in Roman numerals. Additionally signed, dated and numbered in Roman numerals in the imprint. - Overall in very good condition. - Edited by Langner & Bose, Berlin 1989. - Printed by Jesse and the BBK workshops, Berlin. - With 16 etchings by Walter Stöhrer on Arches vellum. Each etching signed, numbered in Roman numerals and dated, as well as signed, dated and numbered in Roman numerals in the imprint. - Overall in very good condition. - Enclosed: Suite of etchings on Japanese paper and an original gouache by Walter Stöhrer, enclosed in the original red linen slipcase. Original cardboard cover, covered with another etching. - With Les jeux à deux, Walter Stöhrer has created an impressive graphic interpretation of Unica Zürn's text fragment of the same name from 1967. The 16 large-format etchings are exemplary of his gestural, expressive visual language, in which line, gesture and psychic energy come into direct contact. The work marks a phase in which Stöhrer increasingly worked in an intermedia manner: literary texts, voices and visual signs served as the starting point for autonomous image creations. In the encounter with Zürn's associative language, a productive tension unfolds between two independent artistic systems that are connected both pictorially and linguistically, as well as intuitively and structurally.
