Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – P91.99. - Die vorliegende Arbeit auf Papier von Walter Stöhrer zeugt von der expressiven Kraft und gestischen Unmittelbarkeit, die sein gesamtes Werk kennzeichnen. Stöhrer verstand Zeichnung und Malerei nicht als getrennte Medien, sondern als gleichwertige Ausdrucksformen eines existenziellen künstlerischen Prozesses. Paper slightly wavy due to the technique, slightly irregular at the edges. Overall very good. - The present work on paper by Walter Stöhrer testifies to the expressive power and gestural immediacy that characterise his entire oeuvre. Stöhrer did not see drawing and painting as separate media, but as equal forms of expression of an existential artistic process. In this work, powerful lines, dynamic areas of colour and spontaneous characters unfold into a complex structure that oscillates between abstraction and figurative allusion. The picture support becomes a place of immediate action, on which emotional impulses, intellectual reflection and physical movement condense.
