Der babylonische Talmud in Auswahl übersetzt von Jacob Fromer. Mit prachtvoller chromolithographischer Doppelseite und chromolithographischen Buchschmuck von Joseph Budko. Berlin, Brandus, 169 S., 3 S. OLn mit goldgeprägten Fileten, Eckfleurons und Mittelstück in Form einer Menora, Rücken mit reicher Goldprägung. (Minimal berieben und mit stellenweise kleinerem Abrieb).

Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Kritter S.158. - Sennewald 24,2. - Bereits ab 1902 studierte Budko an der Kunstschule in Wilna. Er ließ sich 1909 in Berlin nieder, wo er das Ziselieren und den Kupferstich lernte. Er nahm ab 1910 ein Studium an der Unterrichtsanstalt des Berliner Kunstgewerbemuseums sowie bei Hermann Struck auf, wo er als dessen Lieblingsschüler galt. Er begann, sich ab der Mitte der 1920er Jahre intensiver mit Malerei zu beschäftigen. Joseph Budko emigrierte 1933 nach Palästina, wo er von 1934 bis 1940 Direktor der Neuen Kunstgewerbeschule Bezalel School for Arts & Crafts in Jerusalem war. - Luxuriöser breitrandiger Pressendruck. Teils unbeschnitten. Gutes Exemplar.
Modern Literature and Art – With splendid chromolithographic double-page spread and chromolithographic book decoration by Joseph Budko. OCloth with gilt-stamped fillets, corner fleurons and centerpiece in the form of a menorah, spine with rich gilt stamping. (Minimally rubbed and with minor wear in places.) Budko studied at the art school in Vilnius from 1902. He settled in Berlin in 1909, where he learned chasing and engraving. From 1910, he studied at the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts and under Hermann Struck, where he was considered his favorite student. He began to focus more intensively on painting from the mid-1920s. Joseph Budko emigrated to Palestine in 1933, where he was director of the new Bezalel School for Arts & Crafts in Jerusalem from 1934 to 1940. - Luxurious wide-margined impression. Partly uncut. Good copy.
