Geschichtswissenschaften – Zweite, erweiterte Ausgabe des klassischen Werks zur Diplomatie, unser Exemplar mit äußerst prominenter nobler Provenienz. - NBG VIII, 211. - Die Erstausgabe des von François de Callières (1645-1717), Diplomat, Staatsmann und Schriftsteller im Dienste Ludwigs XIV., verfassten Werks war 1716 bei Brunet in Paris erschienen. - Provenienz: 1. Fürsten zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, mit deren Familienwappen als gestochenes Ex Libris u. hs. Bibliothekssigle auf beiden Vorderspiegeln. Ein Zweig der Sayn-Wittgensteins lebte und wirkte seit den 1760er-Jahren in Russland. 2. Georgij Nikolajewitsch Mombelli, jeweils mit Widmungen an 3. Natalja Alexandrowna Baronessa Wenckstern u. 4. seinen Sohn Wassilij Grigoriewitsch Mombelli. - Erste und letzte Blätter mit vereinzelten Stockfleckchen, sonst wohlerhaltener, breitrandiger Exemplarsatz.

History – Enlarged edition of this classic work on diplomacy, our copy with highly prominent noble provenance. - NBG VIII, 211 (for the author). - The first edition of the work written by François de Callières (1645-1717), diplomat, statesman and writer in the service of Louis XIV, was published by Brunet in Paris in 1716. - Provenance: 1st Princes of Sayn-Wittgenstein, with their family coat of arms as an engraved ex libris and handwritten library siglum on both front endpapers. A branch of the Sayn-Wittgenstein family lived in Russia since the 1760s. 2. Georgiy Nikolayevic Mombelli, each with dedications to 3. Natalya Alexandrovna Baronessa Wenckstern and 4. his son Vasily Grigorievic Mombelli. - First and last leaves with minor foxing, otherwise well-preserved copy with wide margins.
