Bordei" (Vorwort) sind verfeinerte bzw. modifizierte Adaptionen jener der Ausgabe von 1532 und von zeigen Sonnenuhren, Klepsydrae und andere antike Zeitmessinstrumente, darunter Diptychen, Ringe, facettierte und Säulenzifferblätter, Quadranten, Seefahrerastroloben sowie die mathematischen oder astronomischen Prinzipien, die ihrer Verwendung und Gestaltung zugrunde liegen. - Es fehlt die Falttafel. - Eingebunden ist die vierte Ausgabe von Finés Arithmetik, gegliedert in 4 Kapitel über Integrale, gewöhnliche Brüche, Sexagesimalbrüche und Proportionen. - Es fehlt das Titelblatt. - Stellenweise leicht stock- und schmutzfleckig, mitunter etwas wasserrandig, insgesamt gut erhaltenes Exemplar dieser beiden frühen und bedeutenden Werke der angewandten Mathematik.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – First impression of the first independent edition of Finés most important horological work. - For references see above. - Edition published posthumously by Oronce Finés (1494-1555), the renowned mathematician and professor at the Collège Royal, son Jean, here in the first edition without the year indicated on the title page. The first printing of Finé's horological magnum opus was published as part of his "Protomathesis" (1532). - The wood-cuts depict sundials, clepsydrae and other ancient time-keeping instrument including diptychs, rings, multi-faceted and pillar dials, quadarants, mariner's astrolobes, as well as the mathematical or astronomical principles governing their use and desig - The folding plate is missing. - Bound together with the fourth edition of Finé's Arithmetic, divided into four chapters on integrals, ordinary fractions, sexagesimal fractions, and proportions. - Missing the title page. - Slightly foxed and soiled in places, occasionally slightly waterstained, overall, a well-preserved copy of these two early and important works on applied mathematics.
