Album de la jeunesse, des amateurs, et des artistes composé de vingt-cinq sujets divers, arts et métiers, chevaux, chasses, scènes militaires, vues et paysages ornés de fabriques et d'animaux etc. Dessinés et gravés àl'eau-forte par feu J. Duplessi-Bertaux. Précédé du portrait de l'auteur et d'une notice historique sur les petits-maitres Callot, La Belle et Sébastien Leclerc. Présenté à S. A. Royale Monseigneur le Duc de Bordeaux par (Jean-Francois) Joubert. Mit 1 gestoch. Portrait u. 25 mont. Kaltnadel-Radierungen auf China. Paris, J. Didot aine pour Joubert 1823. 1 Bl., 16 S., 1 Bl. Mit zeittypischen Illustrationen des bedeutenden franz. Malers, Zeichners und Radierers Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (auch J. Duplessis-Bertaux, 1747-1820), darunter sieben Berufsdarstellungen (Straßenbau, Werkstatt für Kochgeschirr, Frisör, Maurer, Fabrikation von Dachziegeln, Hufschmied und Hutgeschäft). Die anderen Tafeln zeigen einen Hütchen-Spieler, Jagdszenen, Schüler des Lycée Royal und ein Mädchen-Pensionat, außerdem eine Feldküche und weitere militärische Szenen, darunter die Schlacht bei Waterloo. - Textblätter im Rand und Trägerpapier teils leicht braunfleckig, schönes prachtvoll gebundenes Exemplar.

History – With 1 engraved. Portrait a. 25 mounts. Drypoint etchings on China. Wine-red morocco with blind-stamped spine and cover ornamentation, blind-stamped coat-of-arms supralibros of the French King Charles X and gilt edges. King Charles X and gilt edges (slightly rubbed, lower capital damaged). - Magnificently bound copy of the first edition from the library of Charles-Philippe de France (1757-1836), who ascended the French throne in 1824 as Charles X and successor to his brother Louis XVIII. - Provenance: Collection Hubert Guerrand-Hermès, autour de la Duchesse de Berry, 15. 12. 2023 Sotheby's, Paris. - Preferred edition on wove paper. With period illustrations by the important French painter, draughtsman and etcher. With contemporary illustrations by the important French painter, draughtsman and etcher Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (also J. Duplessis-Bertaux, 1747-1820), including seven occupational depictions (road construction, workshop for cookware, barber, bricklayer, manufacture of roof tiles, blacksmith and hat store). The other panels show a hat player, hunting scenes, pupils of the Lycée Royal and a girls' boarding school, as well as a field kitchen and other military scenes, including the Battle of Waterloo. - Text leaves in margins and backing paper partly slightly brownstained, beautiful splendidly bound copy.
