Geschichtswissenschaften – Einzige Ausgabe der historischen Abhandlung, posthum aus dem Nachlass ediert und herausgegeben von dem Göttinger Juristen und Historiker Christian Ludwig Scheidt (1709-1761). - Graesse II, 459 - Der Historiker Johann Georg von Eckhart (1664-1730) war zu Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts Sekretär von Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz und ab 1706 Professor der Geschichte an der Universität Helmstedt. Nach Leibniz' Tod wurde er Bibliothekar und Hofhistoriograph des Hauses Hannover. Im Jahr 1723 zwang ihn die arge Zerrüttung seiner ökonomischen Verhältnisse dazu, seine Stellung preiszugeben und mit Zurücklassung seiner Familie zu fliehen. In Würzburg trat er der römischen Kirche bei und wurde schließlich unter Fürstbischof Joh. Philipp v. Schönborn Hof- und Universitätsbibliothekar (Vgl. ADB 5, S. 627-631). - Gutes, sauberes Exemplar.

History – With engraved title vignette, 19 mostly folded engraved plates, 2 copper engraved maps and 4 text engravings. Contemporary paperback (somewhat stained and rubbed). - Only edition of the historical treatise, posthumously edited from the estate and published by the Göttingen jurist and historian Christian Ludwig Scheidt (1709-1761). - The historian Johann Georg von Eckhart (1664-1730) was Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz's secretary at the beginning of the 18th century and professor of history at the University of Helmstedt from 1706. After Leibniz's death, he became librarian and court historiographer of the House of Hanover. In 1723, the serious disruption of his economic circumstances forced him to give up his position and flee, leaving his family behind. In Würzburg he joined the Roman Church and finally became court and university librarian under Prince-Bishop Joh. Philipp v. Schönborn. - Good, clean copy.
