Lot 1998 Johann Adam Klein. Trompeter zu Pferd. Erste …

Trompeter zu Pferd. Erste Hälfte 19. Jhdt. Federzeichnung aquarelliert auf Papier, fest kaschiert auf leichten Karton. 16,8 x 14,2 cm. Signiert. In Punkten auf Unterlage montiert.

Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Vgl. Freitag-Stadler, 161. Insgesamt gut erhalten. Detaillierte Zeichnung, das Kolorit leuchtend.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Pen and ink drawing, watercolour on paper, firmly mounted on light card. Signed. Provenance: Private Collection, Southern Germany. - Inspired by the Napoleonic Wars, Klein was intensely interested in the detailed and often colourful uniforms of various military troops as early as his student days in Vienna. - A soldier of the Napoleonic troops of the '12e régiment de cavalerie' is depicted on a noble horse, showing the uniform as it was worn around 1800. Klein has worked out the individual details, from the boots and epaulettes to the heavy fur cap, in great detail. Klein's unmistakable fascination with uniforms and the numerous drawings that resulted from this show such precision that they not only have great artistic value, but are also of significant importance as a source of military history. - Minimally stained due to the technique, with quite inconspicuous pale brown stains. Overall in good condition. Detailed drawing, the colouring luminous.
