Goldschnitt, reicher Goldprägung im Rocaille-Stil auf Rücken und Deckeln (Goldprägung verblasst, berieben, bestoßen, Gelenke geplatzt (VDeckel beinahe lose)).

Liber amicorum - England

Manuskripte und Urkunden – Mit Exlibris von Reverend John Homfray. - Die überwiegend montierten Zeichnungen und Stiche zeigen u.a. Landschaften, Genre-Szenen und Porträts. Die zahlreichen meist unsignierten und nur teils monogrammierten Einträge geben meist Gedichte bekannter Poeten wieder und sind teils an die Besitzerin des Albums gewidmet. Janet Genevieve (geb. um 1815) war eine von fünf Töchtern von Reverend John Homfray. Der Porträtmaler Samuel Lane fertigte ihr Bildnis an, welches über eine Mezzotinta überliefert ist. - Vorderer fliegender Vorsatz fast gelöst, fingerspurig und teils leicht angeschmutzt, sehr vereinzelt stockfleckig, 4 Bll. mit Einriss.

Contemporary leather album with rich rocaille-style gilding on spine and covers (gilding faded, rubbed, bumped, hinges cracked). - With bookplate of Reverend John Homfray. - The mainly mounted drawings and engravings show, among others, landscapes, genre scenes and portraits. The numerous mainly unsigned and only partly monogrammed entries mostly reproduce poems by well-known poets and are partly dedicated to the owner of the album. Janet Genevieve (b. c. 1815) was one of five daughters of Reverend John Homfray. The portrait painter Samuel Lane executed her portrait, which is transmitted via a mezzotint. - Front flyleaf endpaper almost detached, fingerstains, partly slightly soiled, very occ. foxing, 4 leaves with tear.
