Naturwissenschaften – Sehr selten. - Nissen ZBI, 2792. - Vanzolini I, 9. - Eins von drei Heften. - Die Hefte, die von dem deutsche Biologen Blasius Merrem (1761-1824) geschrieben wurden, waren ursprünglich als eine vierteljährliche Publikation über seltene Tiere, Pflanzen und Mineralien gedacht. Jedoch wurden über die Jahre aufgrund gesundheitlicher Problem von Merrem insgesamt nur drei Hefte publiziert. Die ersten beiden Hefte wurden auf Kosten von Merrem selbst in Duisburg und Lemgo herausgebracht, das dritte Heft im Jahr 1821 in Essen bei Baedeker. Merrem hatte sich auf die Gebiete der Herpetologie und Ornithologie spezialisert und lehrte seit 1782 an den Universitäten in Göttingen, Duisburg und Marburg. - Ränder leicht gebräunt. Tls. minimal fleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltenes Exemplar mit prächtigen Tafeln in kräftigem Kolorit.
Natural Sciences – Herpetology - With 13 mostly colored lithographic plates. Modern cardboard with mounted title and coloured top edge. - One of three fascicles. - The fascicles, written by the German biologist Blasius Merrem (1761-1824), were originally intended as a quarterly publication on rare animals, plants, and minerals. However, due to Merrem's health problems only three fascicles were ever published over the years. The first two fascicles were published at Merrem's own expense in Duisburg and Lemgo, the third appeared in 1821 in Essen at Baedeker. Merrem specialized in the fields of herpetology and ornithology and taught at the universities of Göttingen, Duisburg, and Marburg from 1782 onwards. - Edges slightly browned. Minimal staining. Overall, a very well-preserved copy with magnificent plates in rich colors.
