Naturwissenschaften – Sehr seltenes, reich und elaboriert illustriertes Taschenlexikon zur Herpetologie. - Nissen IZB, 474. - Adler II, 48f. - Taschenlexikon zur Herpetologie, zusammengestellt vom französischen Forschungsreisenden und Naturkundler Jean Baptiste Bory de Saint-Vincent (1778-1846). - Die Lithos im schmucken Kleinformat, nichtsdestrotz detailreich und akribisch koloriert. - Provenienz: Kraig Adler (geb. 1940), U.S.-amerikanischer Herpetologe, mit dessen Ex Libris auf dem Vorderspiegel des Tafelbändchens. - Mitunter stockfleckig, die Tafeln vereinzelt auch etwas fingerfleckig und mit schmalen Wasserrändern. Insgesamt saubere, sammelwürdigen Bändchen. - Von großer Seltenheit, für uns auf Auktionen kein einziges Mal nachweisbar.

Natural Sciences – Very rare, richly and elaborately illustrated pocket encyclopaedia on herpetology. - For references see above. - With 1 lithographed frontispiece and 52 lithographic plates by Engelmann after Lamouroux and Guérin, 46 of which are hand-coloured. - Curious reference work on herpetology, compiled by French explorer and naturalist Jean Baptiste Bory de Saint-Vincent (1778-1846). - The lithographs are in a neat small format, yet rich in detail and meticulously coloured. - Provenance: Kraig Adler (born 1940), American herpetologist, with his book-plate mounted on the front cover of the small volume. - Occasional light foxing, some of the plates also have a few finger-stains and narrow water-stains. Overall, a well preserved, collectible volume. - Extremely rare, not a single copy found at auction.
