Die Mastodonsaurier im Grünen Keupersandsteine Württemberg's sind Batrachier. Mit 4 Kupfertafeln. Tübingen, H. Laupp'sche Buchhandlung, 1850. 1 Bl., 34 S. Folio. OHLwd. mit DTitel (berieben, bestoßen, leicht fleckig).
Paläontologie
Naturwissenschaften – Sehr selten. - Abhandlung des bedeutenden deutschen Paläontologen und Geologen Friedrich August Quenstedt (1809-1889) zu dem in Württemberg gefunden Mastodonsaurus. Im Jahr 1824 wurde erstmals ein Zahn des Sauriers gefunden. Der Mastodonsaurus, welcher im Trias lebte, erhielt seinen Namen von Georg Friedrich von Jäger. Quenstedt versucht in seinem Werk zu zeigen, dass der Mastodonsaurus mit den zeitgenössischen Batrachiern verwandt ist und sogleich jedoch im Aussehen Reptilien wie den Krokodilen ähnelte. - Stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.

Original half canvas with front title (rubbed, bumped, slightly stained). - Very rare. - Treatise by the eminent German paleontologist and geologist Friedrich August Quenstedt (1809-1889) on the Mastodonsaurus found in Württemberg. A tooth from the dinosaur was first discovered in 1824. The Mastodonsaurus, which lived in the Triassic period, was named by Georg Friedrich von Jäger. In his work, Quenstedt attempts to show that the Mastodonsaurus was related to contemporary batrachians, but at the same time resembled reptiles such as crocodiles in appearance. - Foxing.
