Kunstwissenschaften – Erste und einzige Ausgabe. - ADB V, 360. Graesse II, 428. Winkler 110 u. 965a. - Wilhelm Dorow (1790-1846) war Diplomat, Historiker und Archäologe. Während eines Kuraufenthalts in Wiesbaden widmete er sich Ausgrabungen und Forschungen zur Vorgeschichte dieses Gebiets. Seit 1819 Hofrat, wurde Dorow mit der zentralen Verwaltung der archäologischen Forschungen in den rheinisch-westfälischen Provinzen in Bonn betraut und war seit 1820 deren Direktor. Mit seiner Sammlung begründete er das Museum rheinisch-westfälischer Altertümer in Bonn. Er leitete in der Folgezeit Ausgrabungen in Neuwied und Rom. Die beiden Bände befassen sich mit Ausgrabungen in Wiesbaden und dessen Umgebung. - Etwas stockfleckig.

Science of Art – First and second issue in 1 volume. (all published). With two lithographed frontispieces, 39 lithographed plates and a folded map of Wiesbaden. - First and only edition. - Wilhelm Dorow (1790-1846) was a diplomat, historian and archaeologist. During a stay at a health resort in Wiesbaden, he devoted himself to excavations and research into the prehistory of this region. A court councillor from 1819, Dorow was entrusted with the central administration of archaeological research in the Rhenish-Westphalian provinces in Bonn and became its director in 1820. With his collection, he founded the Museum of Rhenish-Westphalian Antiquities in Bonn. He subsequently led excavations in Neuwied and Rome. The two volumes deal with excavations in Wiesbaden and its surroundings. - slightly moldy.
