Abendrot in Naka-no-cho: Die Kurtisane Yokoyama aus dem Hause Matsubaya (Naka-no-cho sekisho, Matsubaya uchi Yoyoyama). Aus: Acht Ansichten des Neuen Yoshiwara (Shin Yoshiwara hakkei). Um 1830. Farbholzschnitt auf Japan. 38,5 x 26 cm. Im Stock signiert "Keisai Eisen ga", mit Zensursiegel (kiwame) und Verlegerzeichen (Tsutaya Kichizo). Punktuell auf Unterlage montiert.

Geographie und Reisen – Die Darstellung zeigt die hochrangige Kurtisane in ganzer Figur, den Kopf zurückgewandt, in prachtvollem mehrlagigem Gewand, oben rechts ein Einsatzbild mit Blick in die kirschblütengesäumte Hauptstraße des Vergnügungsviertels Yoshiwara. - Papier altersbedingt gebräunt, vor allem an den Rändern partiell angeschmutzt und fleckig, Farben etwas verblasst, verso mit leichtem Farbdurchschalg. Insgesamt gut mit ausgezeichnetem Druck der Komposition ohne Rand.
Geography and Travel – From: Eight Views of the New Yoshiwara (Shin Yoshiwara hakkei). Ca. 1830. Colour woodblock print on Japan paper. Signed in the block "Keisai Eisen ga", with kiwame censor's seal and publisher's mark (Tsutaya Kichizo). Hinged at points to a backing sheet. - The print depicts the high-ranking courtesan in full figure, her head turned back, in a magnificent multi-layered garment, upper right an inset picture with a view into the cherry-blossom-lined main street of the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter. - Paper browned with age, partially soiled and stained, especially at the margins, colours faded, slight show-through of colour on the verso. Overall in good condition, with an excellent impression, without margins.
